I also have found Metalink lacking in quality and features.

i just place a SR every time i want to update my Siebel install becuase is more simple that trying to use the very complex sear utility the offer.

also the missing SR are a great waste indeed.

just my 2 cents.

Hi Chris,
Your point is valid. The other day I was looking for a patch and inspite of downloading it didn't work. Then opened a SR only to figure out that there is some other patch I have to download instead. Also I have noticed that the searching utility is really complex.

Two weeks back I met my old Siebel friend and he was explaining all the frustration he had with this.

Yes, I agree with you. I hope someone from Oracle is looking into our comments.

Let me know if you have more. Thanks.

My biggest concern is locating the latest 'fixpatches' for the current version of Siebel I'm using.

for example, we're using 7.8.2.6 SIA. Now, there's a number of fixes that exist (one for example is the ability to run siebel with IE7 which is not possible on the base 7.8.2.6 install). Apparently QuickFix 0625 fixes this (as well as other bugs). In the end, I needed to create a service request via metalink3 to show me how to find the fixpatch on their site. I eventually found it, but there appears to be no way of keeping tabs on the latest fixpatch available for the version we're running.

It just seems to complex for its own good to me.
