Predefined Query, also called as PDQs in Siebel are very handy for end users. The end users often execute the same query multiple times or also the requirement could be such that as soon as the person navigates a particular view a default set of records should be displayed. Today I was working in developing Web Services in Siebel and I realized that I need to send an XML message embedded in a SOAP envelope. When I was testing it I realized that Siebel did not like the special characters inside the xml elements because the parser had special meaning to it and would either ignore or error it. With Siebel versions 7.8 and above, project checkouts have been disabled by default. Instead we have object checkouts which are more flexible and allow multiple developers to work on the same project. So if you go into Siebel Tools and navigate to Tools-> Check Out and select any project, the Checkout button will be disabled. Continue reading…
